As hospitals continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, they’re putting protective measures in place to protect staff and to prevent the further spread of the virus as they allow elective procedures. In Pennsylvania, the Department of Health produced an official order laying out specific requirements for hospitals.
The order includes: notifying and testing staff who come in contact with COVID-19 patients, distributing respirators and PPE to all staff members and replacing them as needed, and requiring all individuals who enter the hospital to wear a mask, including visitors.
How can visitor management help?
Having a robust and efficient visitor management system will aid hospitals as they prevent the spread of COVID-19 and follow these mandated protocols. Visitor management software can help them identify and track visitors throughout the hospital. This will help with contact tracing if they have a positive COVID-19 patient.
Effective visitor management will also help hospitals enforce face covering requirements. As visitors check in, it provides staff the opportunity to give them proper identification and inform them of new visitor restrictions and face mask requirements.
Robust visitor management systems, such as IDenticard’s PassagePoint, enables hospitals to enforce visitor policies and restrictions as they change (number of visitors, departments, visit length, patient diagnosis). Hospitals can configure PassagePoint to screen visitors with COVID-19 questions and a temperature scan, and it allows them to set up web pre-registration and screening as well as visitor self registration workstations.
